November 3-7, 2025 - 7-9 pm ETPrerequisite: NoneFood – the last part of the sacred order of survival - Shelter, Water, Fire, and Food. Out of the 70+ lectures at Tracker School’s standard class (the week-long introductory course to tracking, nature philosophy &amp; wilderness survival) about 7 lectures have to do with food, maybe 5 to 6 hours total. The big four plants (oaks, cattails, pines and grasses) are discussed. Hunting ethics &amp; the forager’s mindset are explained. Many different primitive cooking methods are demonstrated. We learn that food remembers and how to eat like a tribe.&nbsp;This class aims to incorporate those ideas and knowledge into a different sort of survival situation - that of everyday life.&nbsp; Over the decades it’s become harder and harder to make good food choices with so many dietary regimens vying for primacy, many of which have a valid scientific basis, but most are way too tunnel-visioned in. And the list of processed food ingredients only gets more confusing as profit overrides nutrition. We need a Wide-Angle Vision approach to food. We need to figure out ways to stop our pool of food variety from shrinking further every year.&nbsp;Time, space and energy expenditure, the constraints of all survival situations, will be examined through several circumstances. Whether you live on a 100-acre farm with 4 acres of woods in the Midwest or a 320 SF. Apartment in New York (not just random numbers; I’ve lived in both), it begins with a rational look at what’s possible, then what’s sustainable for your life pattern, and then what’s for dinner. So yes, this won’t be a week of just thought experiments and conversations - we’ll be cooking, preserving and foraging in unique ways to improve the quality of your life and those around you.&nbsp;So, get your shelter, water &amp; fire squared away - it’s time to start cooking!&nbsp;Note:The list of presenters is still being finalized, but we expect to hear from 10-12 main presenters that week along with shorter commentaries from a variety of other Tracker folks.&nbsp;There will be a short list of supplies that, while not absolutely necessary, will help you get more out of the class.&nbsp; That list will be sent out 2 weeks prior to the start of class.November 3-7, 2025 - 7-9 pm ET
